Thursday, August 17th … Day 102 … Ponderosa Campground, Cody, Wyoming
On the road around 7am this morning heading east to Cody, Wyoming just 100 miles away. Half of the ride is in Yellowstone … beautiful quiet ride. Went up a little and the ride down was awesome, did not expect to see the sandstone cliffs similar to the sculpted hills and mountains of Utah. Stopped a few times, once on a mountain decent, deep wooded canyons and winding roads, pulling off for another stretch we ended up alongside a sandstone ridge carved into ancient buildings by the weather, just, amazing. This too is cowboy country; everywhere you turn but also rich in our Native American culture. Needless to say everything in Cody is about Wild Bill Cody, we visited a museum Buffalo Bill Center of the West, separated into 5 sections, Plains Indians, Fire Arms, History, Western Art and Buffalo Bill Himself. A lot of what we have experienced over the last few months was easily related to many of the displays we observed today. Supper tonight at Bubba’s , Baby back ribs, pulled pork and a sauce to die for…. Yummie! Full hook ups for the next three days … I’m thinking a little TV is in order……………….
